Background
With the approval
of the State Council of the People's Republic of
China, the Fourth Session of China Beijing International High-tech Industries Week (CBHT 2001) is to
be held from May 10 to May 15, 2001 in Beijing, China. CBHT 2001 is hosted by
Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information Industry, China Council for
the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the People's Government of
Beijing Municipality, and organized by China Council for the Promotion of Trade
Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing). China's Party and State leaders have shown
close concern for and given full support to CBHT 2001 and will be present in the
related activities.
As we are entering the 21st century, the development of high technology and its
industrialization are making a profound impact on our social and economic
development. The Chinese government is paying close attention to it and is glad to
provide a broad stage for the international exchange and development of high
technology. In order to seize the favorable opportunity provided by the growth of the
world new economy, to meet the challenge of economic globalization and to promote
international exchange, cooperation and development in high-tech industries, the
World New Economy Forum and High-Tech & Finance Forum of CBHT 2001, hosted
by Office of Organizing Committee of CBHT 2001 and organized by WorldCN
Communications, will be held from May 10 to May 13, 2001 at the Great Hall of the
People and China World Hotel in Beijing.
Invited to attend and speak at the forums are government officials from both China
and overseas, leaders of the world's major economic and trade organizations, top
executives of famous international financial and investment institutions, directors of
well-known high-tech enterprises, noted Nobel laureate economists and leading
figures from China's Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Trade
and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Information Industry, China Council for the
Promotion of Trade and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality.
